Demián Bichir Nájera (Spanish pronunciation: [de'mjan bi't?ir 'naxe?a]; born August 1, 1963) is a Mexican-American actor and one of the members of the Bichir family. After starring in telenovelas, Bichir was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in A Better Life (2011).

Early life
Bichir was born in Torreón, the son of Mexican actors Alejandro Bichir and Maricruz Nájera. His older brother, Odiseo, and younger brother, Bruno, are also actors. He worked at the National Theater Company, performed Shakespeare and Dostoyevsky, and won several awards from the Mexican Association of Theater Critics. Bichir attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and worked at the Rosa Mexicano Restaurant.

Career
Bichir played Fidel Castro in Che. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in A Better Life. He starred in the FX series The Bridge. In Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, he played Bob, a mysterious Mexican. His directorial debut film, Un Cuento de Circo & A Love Song, premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival. Bichir starred in Alien: Covenant, the second prequel film of the Alien series. He starred in The Conjuring spin-off film, The Nun and joined the cast for the film adaptation Chaos Walking, based on Patrick Ness' trilogy novels. In March 2018, Bichir joined the cast of the upcoming ABC television series Grand Hotel, based on the Spanish television series of the same name.
Personal life
Bichir has been in a relationship with Canadian actress Stefanie Sherk since 2011. He was previously married to Mexican actress and singer Lisset Gutiérrez from 2001 to 2003. Bichir has one daughter, Gala (born 2011), from a brief relationship with an unnamed Spanish woman. He is an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Ambassador for Immigration Rights.
